Stardew Valley creator Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone has just confirmed a new update is coming to the game.
When you think about “forever games”, Stardew Valley is probably one of the few that tops a lot of people’s lists.
I mean, it’s never the kind of game where you only do one playthrough and are then done with it. You make multiple characters, try different farm layouts, and marry new spouses. I’ve lost count by now, but I must easily be on my 10th save by now.
Well, just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in. Barone has confirmed yet another update will be coming to Stardew Valley, and so the wait for Haunted Chocolatier continues.

The new update was announced at the Stardew Valley Symphony of Seasons concert in Seattle earlier this week, where Barone addressed the audience by saying (thanks, FRVR): “After the [last] update, I was thinking ‘I dunno if I’m gonna make another update’. But, I wanted to share something with you tonight, it’s kind of a secret… there’s gonna be another update.”

Following this, Barone posted on X (formerly Twitter) to announce the update to everyone, writing: “Okay, I revealed this at the concert last night and now the cat's out of the bag, so I will confirm for everyone: There will be a Stardew Valley 1.7 update. No release date, no estimate. But it's happening.”
Stardew Valley’s last major update occurred in March 2024, when Update 1.6 was first released on PC. It was then brought to other platforms over the following months, but the game hasn’t had a new update since December 2024.
While Barone doesn’t have an estimated time of arrival for Stardew Valley’s 1.7 update, he also says it shouldn’t affect development of Haunted Chocolatier.
“My plan is that this will not hinder Haunted Chocolatier development,” he wrote in response to a fan on X.
