Greedy GTA 6 Fans Demand More Open World, 'Is That Enough?'

The World is not enough

Fans hyped for GTA VI have questioned whether or not its open-world will be enough. For the record, I don't think gamers are being greedy, just raising expectations.

The next entry to Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto series is nearly upon us with GTA VI, in what will no doubt be the biggest game of 2026 and likely for years to come.

The highly anticipated GTA VI will no doubt break all sorts of records during its opening launch days in terms of sales, concurrent players and views on streaming platforms such as Twitch and YouTube.

GTA VI will also be expected to achieve high review scores, and if an outlet or content creator dared to score it anything less than a nine out of ten, some might deem that as a failure. I know that sounds very dramatic, but we know what this community is like.

How Big Will the GTA VI Map Be?

At this time, we can only speculate. However, each new game in the Grand Theft Auto series has gotten bigger, and I’d be surprised if GTA VI would be an exception. All we know for sure right now is that it will feature the returning location of Vice City. Everything else is speculative.

There have been plenty of rumours regarding the map size, and as such, plenty of concept maps have been making the rounds. But as of now, everything should be taken with a pinch of salt.

One concept map in particular has been shared on Reddit with the question, “GTA VI map rumoured to be 3.5 times bigger than GTA V. Is that enough?” asked by opmgyhx.

“I hope it has a bigger city than Los Santos. LA feels tiny to me,” replied 263namyfrab, and to be fair, they do have a point.

Don't get me wrong, Los Santos is huge, but with GTA V being over a decade old, players have pretty much seen all of what the map has to offer.

If GTA VI is the same size as GTA V, that might feel a bit underwhelming to some.

“I hope it is really that big, and I hope there are hundreds of hours worth of content, main missions, side missions, random events, and activities to do. So we can keep playing this game for the rest of our lives,” exclaimed Zylva.

“It's never been the size; it's been the use of the available real estate. GTA V was a waste of space. Maybe now they won't cap the speeds to make the map feel artificially big,” explained Money-Towel-3965.

Hopefully, Rockstar Games will reveal all in the next few months, and if they do, we’ll keep you posted. GTA VI will be released on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
