Can you believe that it was almost five months ago that Rockstar Games dropped Grand Theft Auto VI’s first trailer? Surely, we’re due another reveal very soon.

We’re on the final countdown to GTA VI, although it doesn’t always feel like it given that we’re still without a release date.

We do know that it’s coming in 2025 though, so with each passing day, we inch closer to that coveted (and mysterious) release date regardless of whether it feels like it or not.

It’s believed that GTA VI will drop in the first half of the year so you’d expect Rockstar to ramp up marketing again in the next couple of months.

Could we see the game’s first gameplay trailer drop during June’s upcoming Summer Game Fest? It’s possible but then again, Rockstar has always walked to the beat of its own drum.

In the meantime, the GTA VI mapping project remains in full swing. If you weren’t here during the GTA V era, allow me to fill you in.

These types of mapping projects essentially see fans utilise trailers, screenshots, and leaked materials in order to ‘map out’ and estimate what a particular game’s map might look like.

Such a project was carried out for GTA V with the fan-made map actually being very, very close in size and layout to the real thing.

With that in mind, it’s well worth keeping an eye on the current GTA VI iteration.

ICYMI: Take a look at GTA VI’s trailer below.

The map is in a state of constant improvement as fans get their hands on more relevant materials - and it’ll likely change again when trailer two is dropped.

In the latest version, those involved have attempted to demonstrate just how enormous the map is, writing, “The mapping community map is bigger than four of the five smallest countries in the world combined.”

Those countries are Nauru which measures 8.1 square miles, San Marino (23.6 square miles), Monaco (0.78 square miles), and Vatican City (0.19 square miles).

I will warn you that it does appear as if there’s a few inaccuracies in terms of the ratio of said countries compared to GTA VI’s imagined map but hey, it’s a fun little project to observe if you allow for a bit of adjustment room. Just don’t take this completely at face value.

GTA VI’s map will be revealed to us in good time. They do say the best things come to those who wait.
