Star Wars: The Acolyte was cancelled by Disney after only a single season, thanks to poor feedback from their target audience and, though this is yet to be confirmed, exorbitant production costs that ran well into the hundreds of millions of dollars.
The show found itself drawn into the wider culture war, as fans on all sides clashed about the direction of the show amongst the wider conversation about Disney's stewardship of the Star Wars franchise it paid so much to acquire.
Evidently, the writers had big plans for the show moving forward and Disney were originally planning to have it around for some time as part of the wider universe, with many of the show's major characters appearing elsewhere.
The premature cancellation put all of that in the proverbial bin unfortunately, but that doesn't mean that everyone has given up hope of the show, or the characters, returning in some form before all is said and done.

Manny Jacinto Weighs In On The Acolyte Return
In a recent conversation with TV Insider, Qimir actor Manny Jacinto shared his thoughts on a potential return as the character, wherever that may be.
“I am always ready, and I would love to run it back if they’d have me. That was a role of a lifetime, and I’m incredibly proud of what we did in The Acolyte and with Oshamir, with that whole relationship,” he said.

That comes as part of wider news about other cancelled projects that could easily have seen the character appear, without a major interruption in the story they've built up so far.
Specifically, it was recently revealed by Kylo Ren actor Adam Driver that there was a Steven Soderbergh Star Wars project in the works known as The Hunt for Ben Solo, before that was also suddenly and mysteriously scrapped by Disney.
Recent lore revelations suggest that Qimir may well have been the founder and original leader of The Knights of Ren, which would give the writers an easy and logical way for Jacinto's character to reappear, outside of the tricky context of The Acolyte.
That said, it would actually be nice to see The Acolyte return (just like Palpatine did), as there were undoubtedly some interesting story threads on the go that could easily have had far reaching implications for the wider Star Wars narrative.

As that remains very unlikely, I'll settle for seeing the show's best characters appear in other projects in the same universe instead.
