With Star Wars Jedi: Survivor still fresh in our minds, Cal Kestis actor Cameron Monaghan has confirmed that he and Respawn Entertainment are already working on the next instalment.

Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi series has been met with raving reviews since Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was released back in 2019. The game was followed by sequel Star Wars Jedi: Survivor this April and now it seems as though a third instalment is already in the works. With the series acting as a revival to the much-loved Star Wars franchise, fans are already excited to see what else Respawn has in store.

This news comes courtesy of the recent Ocala Comic Con which saw Monaghan take to the stage to answer questions about the game. “We’re working on a third and we’re in the process of doing that right now”, he announced. “That’s a big undertaking and there have been some conversations so far, but hopefully when all things and said and done we’ll be able to go in and make something really cool.”

This news would be in keeping with comments made by Stig Asmussen, the now-ex director of both Star Wars Jedi games. Asmussen has since left Respawn and its parent company EA with no current plans for the future. Before his departure, he had hoped to work on the third instalment of the series. “I always wanted to see this as a trilogy,” he told IGN back in February.

“How can we take Cal and the crew to new places beyond what we were doing in the first game? We had a pretty decent idea of timeframe where we wanted Survivor to take place, what the stakes were going to be, what the tone of the game was going to be, what Cal was going to be up against, and how the crew was going to factor into that. And there’s ideas of what we could do beyond that as well.”

It’s unclear exactly why Asmussen left Respawn, especially with plans to continue his work with the Star Wars Jedi series. However, with Monaghan and the rest of the development team eager to “make something cool,” fans are hoping the game’s winning method will continue.
