Marvel’s Wolverine has just had another release window update, but I wouldn’t say it’s particularly good news.

Insomniac Games has been quietly working away on Marvel’s Wolverine for years now, but we haven’t had much information about the game since its original 2021 teaser trailer.

We’re still all holding our breath to see if the game will get a wider reveal soon, but it now looks like we might be waiting a little while longer.

During a recent investor call, Sony listed Ghost of Yōtei and Death Stranding 2 as tentpole titles releasing in 2025.

The slide also presented Marvel’s Wolverine and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet as “upcoming” titles, confirming that Sony is done announcing its 2025 slate for PS5.

According to Sony, Intergalactic and Wolverine are future tentpole titles.

It was pretty obvious that Wolverine wouldn’t be launching in 2025, Ghost of Yōtei and Death Stranding 2 seem like big enough titles to carry us through to the end of the year.

But since 2026 will be the fifth anniversary of the game’s announcement, it’s pretty worrying that the game still doesn’t have a rough release window or another trailer.

As Hollow Knight Silksong and The Elder Scrolls 6 fans can attest to, sometimes it’s better to just not know about a game until it’s ready for a full reveal, rather than releasing a trailer and nothing else for five years.

After all, nobody wants to get excited about a game announcement, and then have to wait half a decade to actually play it.

I should know, I lost it at the news that IO Interactive is making a Bond game in 2020, and that’s not coming out until next year.

Hopefully X-Men fans will be able to get some news about Marvel’s Wolverine soon. It sounds like it’ll be coming before Insomniac’s Spider-Man 3, so we may not be far off from a full reveal.
