It looks like the launch month for PlayStation 5 exclusive, Marvel’s Wolverine, has leaked, and a major MCU character is teased.

I know it’s very early in the year, but it doesn't feel like PlayStation 5 has a ton of major first-party games to look forward to, and if any of those few games get delayed, it could be a bleak 2026 in that respect for gamers on the Sony machine.

Sony did announce a new Horizon three-player co-op spin-off last week, developed by Guerrilla Games, but I do have some concerns.

Horizon Hunters Gathering does have some promise, but I’m not overly optimistic at this point, given Sony’s track record of the recent live-service attempt, Concord.

In terms of PlayStation 5 single-player exclusive games, Saros, a bullet-hell, third-person shooter from the Returnal studio, Housemarque, looks like it could be a blast, and we also have a much-hyped release from Insomniac Games on the way.

Sadly, we’re not talking about Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, but considering the post-credit scene in the last game, we at least know that game is on the way. However, we might have to be patient, because I think Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 is either going to be a late PS5 game, or a PlayStation 6 launch title, in my opinion.

What’s Coming in 2026 From Insomniac Games?

Marvel’s Wolverine was announced during a PlayStation Showcase event in September 2021 alongside the aforementioned Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. So to say that it’s been a long wait to sink Logan’s adamantium claws into his enemies would be an understatement.

We got our first long-awaited look at Marvel’s Wolverine four years later in September 2025, and boy, it did not disappoint. The gameplay looked high-octane and fun, the visuals were stunning and perhaps above all else, it looks absolutely brutal.

What Popular MCU Character Is Teased in Marvel’s Wolverine?

While this is mere speculation at this time, Insomniac Games tweeted a very interesting line that read “‘Claws’? What's that, some kind of fancy lawyer lingo?” The natural assumption here would be that Logan is talking to the famous lawyer of Hell’s Kitchen, Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil.

To be honest, in terms of famous MCU names, Matt Murdock would be the obvious choice, unless that lawyer is Jennifer Susan Walters, otherwise known as She-Hulk.

Is Marvel’s Wolverine Releasing Soon?

As great as that first proper trailer was, we never got a release date for Marvel’s Wolverine, just a vague 2026 window that pointed towards the end of that year.

As shared by Reddit user Pistoluislero, a PlayStation Store listing in Mexico stated that Marvel’s Wolverine would be released during Q3 2026, which would be between 1 July and 30 September.

If true, this fiscal year would also be the same for the folks in the United States.

It may be worth mentioning that fiscal years can be different depending on where you are in the world. For example, the Q3 fiscal year in the UK is between 1 October and 31 December 2026.

It’s also worth keeping in mind that neither Sony nor Insomniac Games have announced a release date for Marvel’s Wolverine, but a delay is always possible.

Once that elusive release date drops, we’ll be sure to update you right away.
