Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order dev officially confirms our next game

The Force remains strong

The Star Wars Jedi series developer has all but officially confirmed its next game which is reportedly set to be revealed next month.

Respawn Entertainment first made its name in the video game development scene with the release of Titanfall on PC and Xbox in 2014. While this humans and mech shooter was a lot of fun to play, fans criticised it at launch for being a multiplayer game only.

However, that all changed two years later with the arrival of Titanfall 2 which not only expanded on its multiplayer modes but it also had a surprisingly emotional and fantastic single-player campaign.

While perhaps not the commercial success that publisher EA wanted Titanfall 2 to be, fans still hold a special place in their hearts for the series and are understandably desperate for there to be a Titanfall 3 one day.

Since the release of the first Titanfall games, Respawn Entertainment not only graced us with the free-to-play multiplayer shooter Apex Legends (set in the Titanfall universe) in 2019 but in that same year, we were treated to the superb single-player game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Then in 2023, despite having a bit of a rocky launch with reports of performance issues across all available platforms, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor quickly went on to become the sequel that many fans hoped it would be, as indicated by its respectable 85 Metacritic score.

In our review of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, we said it’s “An exceptional sequel, improving on every gripe fans had with Fallen Order while adding countless new features that'll keep players engrossed for a long, long time.”

We already know that there’ll be a third game in the Star Wars Jedi series, as it was confirmed in September 2024. However, we don’t know when that game will be released but it might be safe to assume that it’s a couple of years away, at least.

That being said, as reported by Tweaktown.com, Respawn Entertainment does have a new Star Wars game reportedly in the works and it will be in collaboration with another development studio, Bit Reactor.

The unnamed Star Wars game will be a turn-based strategy title and is set to be revealed during the Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, Japan between 18 April to 20 April 2025.

Not much else is known about the turn-based strategy Star Wars game but it may be a comfort to fans knowing that some of the team members of Bit Reactor previously worked at Firaxis Games known for the likes of the XCOM and Civilization series.

Of course, we should take all speculation with a pinch of salt until officially confirmed but hopefully, this is a case of there being no smoke without fire. At least we don't have long for the news to be confirmed either way with the Star Wars event taking place next month.

In the meantime, we can play both Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
