Christian Bale wants to be in Star Wars as a very specific character

Make it happen!

Christian Bale wants to join the Star Wars universe, and he already knows which character he wants to play.

The actor formerly known as Batman revealed in a recent interview that he's always wanted to play in a galaxy far, far away - although his choice of character is... niche, to say the least.

Check out our interview with Star Wars: Andor star Diego Luna below!

You might have assumed that an actor of Bale's calibre would be a perfect choice to play a wisened Jedi master, or perhaps a terrifying Sith lord. Certainly, a man of his talent could bring the gravitas required to play the next big bad in the Star Wars universe. But that's not what he wants.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Bale said that he always wanted to play the Stormtrooper from A New Hope who accidentally hits his head on the door frame at the start of the movie. It's an iconic, if hard-to-spot moment that has become a treasured piece of Star Wars lore among fans.

"All I ever wanted in Star Wars was to be in a Star Wars outfit and hit my head on a door or something as I walked through," Bale said.

"The real nerds who watched Star Wars way too many times always knew about that one scene where the Stormtrooper hits his head on the door as he comes through. I wanted to be that guy. That was it."

Given Disney's obsession with Star Wars prequels and pointless backstory, I wouldn't be that surprised if we soon see a ten-episode Disney Plus event dedicated to explaining why that specific Stormtrooper banged his head.

And just because Bale has his heart set on that one character, that doesn't mean he wouldn't be willing to step into Star Wars as someone a little more... important.

"What a delight that would be," the actor said of joining the franchise in any capacity. "I’ve still got the figures from when I was little. I also know Kathy [Kathleen] Kennedy very well because she was working with [Steven] Spielberg when I did Empire of the Sun, and now, she runs the Star Wars universe."
