Star Wars fans have realised a big implication about The Acolyte’s ending goes greater than that Plagueis reveal.
Star Wars: The Acolyte left our screens nearly a year ago, and we’re still reeling from the fact we won’t get to see where the show was headed.
The original plan was for three seasons, and considering the ending of the show, it’s a shame those plot threads probably won’t be wrapped up on screen.
What’s more, fans are just realising a huge detail about the show’s ending that was hiding in plain sight.

The recently released Star Wars: The Acolyte Visual Guide reveals that Qimir (or, “The Stranger”) is not really a Sith Lord.
According to the book, Qimir “proclaims himself of the long-dead Sith legacy” and “whether he is the true heir to the Sith is a mystery no one will survive to solve, if he has any say in the matter. It is entirely possible that he is a pretender to that lineage.”
Of course, we’re meant to assume that Qimir is the apprentice to Plagueis, but now it doesn’t seem so sure. A lot was left ambiguous, presumably for a second season of The Acolyte to explore further.
In fact, it sounds like he actually might have just been working independently from Plagueis.

“I actually liked the idea that Qimir was an independent darksider rather than connected to Plagius or whomever,” wrote one fan on Reddit.
“The galaxy is very, very big and it seems incredibly unlikely that there are only ever two Sith in all of that vastness.
“If a Jedi grows disillusioned with the order and starts exploring the dark side, or finds old forbidden writings about using passions and emotions to wield the Force, discovers the Rule of Two, takes an apprentice and starts calling themselves a Sith, who exactly can stop them? It's not like there's a Sith Pope who can excommunicate them.”
Another fan added: “Season 1 felt like a prequel to the larger Sith story. Qimir is a former Jedi who turned to the dark side. As far as he knew, the Sith were extinct, so he decided to revive the religion, starting with himself.”

It doesn’t look like we’ll get any firm conclusions to the story beats from The Acolyte, but perhaps we’ll see this stuff carried over into more novels and spin-off media.
