The battle between Sony and Microsoft continues. Oh, you thought the so-called console war was over? Apparently not. In case you missed it, Sony and Microsoft have been bickering over anything and everything ever since Microsoft announced its intention to acquire Activision as part of a $69 billion deal.
The main issue is that Sony doesn't want Call of Duty to become an Xbox exclusive. In recent weeks, Xbox boss Phil Spencer reassured PlayStation that it’d retain access to CoD with one report suggesting that PlayStation had been offered a 10-year deal, after which the franchise would indeed become an Xbox exclusive. Well, the problem still isn’t resolved but now the duo are arguing over PlayStation Plus and Game Pass.
Speaking of Call of Duty, take a look at MWII’s first sniping only nuke in action below.
As reported by TweakTown, Sony recently revealed to the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority that Microsoft would not allow the company to add PlayStation Plus to Xbox consoles… shocking, truly (I hope you read that with a large dose of sarcasm). That’s not all though, Microsoft had reportedly also tried to get Game Pass on PlayStation consoles to no avail.

“Microsoft argues that demand for multi-game subscription services would not tip towards Game Pass because Microsoft would also make Game Pass available on PlayStation,” Sony wrote. “Microsoft's stance that Game Pass availability on PlayStation would be a panacea for the harm from this Transaction rings particularly hollow given that Microsoft does not permit PlayStation Plus to be available on Xbox.”
I can understand why both companies are trying to expand their availability of their respective subscription services but it’s just never going to happen. Having Game Pass on PlayStation would undermine PS Plus and vice versa. Microsoft responded to the claim, confirming, “Sony has chosen to block Game Pass from PlayStation, so it is not available on PlayStation.”
