Some PlayStation Plus Users Are Getting A Different Game, For Some Reason

Following the announcement of March's free PlayStation Plus games, it turns out that subscribers in Asia are getting a different option.

So, a few days ago, we got next month’s free PlayStation Plus games confirmed, which, predictably, some people were really happy about, and many were not. Such is the internet. But really, it’s actually a pretty decent lineup, at least as far as PS Plus usually goes, anyway.

In case you missed it, the announcement confirmed an earlier leak - Team Sonic Racing and Ark: Survival Evolved will be available at the start of the month for all subscribers. Not only that, but PS5 users will be getting the super cool Ghostrunner, which is quite clearly the star of the show here. Additionally, subscribers will be able to download and play Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, and the new gen version of Grand Theft Auto Online, all at no extra cost.

Ghostrunner will be free for PS Plus subscribers next month - check out the trailer below.

Not bad, right? Well, it turns out things are actually a little different for subscribers in Asia. As spotted by u/Renxer0002 over on Reddit, one of next month’s free titles available there is very different. Instead of Ark: Survival Evolved, they’ll be getting Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons instead.

It’s not known exactly why this is the case, but it’s not the only time it’s happened in recent months. Brothers is an excellent game, which was written and directed by the founder of It Takes Two’s studio, Hazelight, but it was very recently available to download and keep for free on the Epic Games Store, so it’s kind of a shame for anyone who’d already cashed in on that offer.

Earlier this week, we also got a few more details about the upcoming (but still not officially confirmed) overhaul of PlayStation Plus, and it sounds like it'll be everything that people have been begging for and more. Apparently, the new and improved subscription service (code-named Spartacus) will be split into three different tiers, like Xbox Game Pass, and the highest tier will give users access to “classic games and streaming”. That certainly sounds like we could be getting some PS1 and PS2 releases on there, and I’m sure that’s what a lot of gamers will be hoping for, too. Reportedly, we could be hearing something official about this as early as the end of the month, which is, uh, two days away. Clock’s ticking, Sony.
