Skyrim meets Football Manager in this difficult-to-put-down free game

Tactical fantasy simulator

Merging tactical gameplay usually seen in the likes of Football Manager with a medieval, fantasy aesthetic is not the combo you’d expect but it seems to work well for this game.

Available for free on the Epic Games Store, Melvor Idle is inspired by RuneScape and features many tables, graphs, and stats that break down the idea of exploring a fantasy game into its base components.

Melvor Idle is a perfect game for old school RuneScape fans.

Melvor Idle is seen as an addictive experience that distils the best parts of an RPG into long tables of stats. You can “master Melvor’s many RuneScape-style skills with just a click or a tap. Melvor Idle is a feature-rich, idle/incremental game combining a distinctly familiar feel with a fresh gameplay experience. Maxing 20 plus skills has never been more zen.”

A game made for those who love to pour over tables and stats in order to create the best character or min-max their levelling up, Melvor Idle is a unique experience. You only have to take one look at the game and you’ll instantly know if it’s one for you.

The developers are passionate about setting their game apart from so many others with a huge list of features:

  • In-depth and endless Combat system featuring eight dedicated Skills, countless dungeons, bosses to vanquish, and lore to unearth.
  • Deep but accessible systems featuring 15 non-combat Skills to train, all with individual mechanics and interactions.
  • Fully featured and interactive Bank/Inventory System.
  • Over 1,100 items for you to discover and utilise.
  • 40 plus decidedly cute Pets to collect.
  • Cloud-saving functionality that is compatible across all platforms.
  • An experience that continues to grow through expansions.

Using the clean but densely detailed tables and stat breakdowns, you can make your adventure one that is micromanaged but still features all the looting, fighting, and exploration you would get from a game like Skyrim.
