Skyrim: Elysium is the next-gen update we've been waiting for

Skyrim looks better than ever!

When it comes to crafting immersive fantasy RPG worlds not many do it better than Bethesda with its ever-popular The Elder Scrolls series.

The Elder Scrolls began back in 1994 as a humble MD-DOS RPG. The series would benefit from several sequels with each entry improving on the last but Bethesda kicked it up a notch on a much larger scale with The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind in 2003.

Then in 2006, we had what is my favourite game in the series, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. However, the series reached its current peak in 2011 thanks to the fifth numbered entry, Skyrim.

For many, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the very best that the series has to offer which is why nearly 13 years after its initial release, fans cannot get enough of adventuring in Tamriel to this very day. Other than multiple releases as well as being a fantastic game, Skyrim remains as vibrant as ever thanks to its dedicated modding community.

One such mod or I should say, a series of mods has been showcased on the YouTube channel, Digital Dreams and oh my, does Skyrim look gorgeous! The collection of magical mods has been dubbed Skyrim: Elysium and if this beloved RPG was created from the ground up in this generation, I’d hope that it looks like this.

Skyrim: Elysium is showcased in glorious 4K resolution at 60 frames per second and takes full advantage of the Nvidia RTX 4090 capabilities and reshade mods. Naturally, this collection of mods is only available on the PC version of Skyrim, otherwise, it may set your console on fire.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
