I make no bones about the fact that I adore The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, and this remake edition looks to be the perfect way to experience the game again.

While all modern entries in The Elder Scrolls franchise are great, the surreal nature of Morrowind puts it at the top of the pile.

The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim is the bestselling game of the franchise

Morrowind is often cited as a fan favourite due to its story, but also thanks to the world that Bethesda created using inspiration from underrepresented cultures. This made the game feel larger than life and memorable to players.

I still carry fond memories of playing Morrowind on an OG Xbox too many years ago and being wowed by the environments on display and sharing tips with my best mate.

Nowadays though Morrowind doesn’t loot its best and that’s why this small team of creators is working on a remake for the game, called Skywind.

It’s a mod project that has been in the works for many years and the team has recently released a behind-the-scenes video detailing how the project came to be, as well as what they’ve achieved so far.

The concept is to completely remake the game using the tools from Skyrim, bringing it to a new visual standpoint, and also allowing for better combat, exploration, and user interface.

I for one can’t wait to get my hands on this mod, but I’m equally excited for others to finally play Morrowind because if you can run Skyrim on your PC, you’ll be able to run this.

Sadly, there’s no ETA on when Skywind will release and it has been in development for so long many people thought it would never come out. The recent video at least gives us some hope that we’ll see it in the coming years.
