The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has been lovingly remastered with a free texture pack you can download right now.

For fans of the Elder Scrolls series, The Elder Scrolls VI must feel like a world away considering it only entered full-development last year following the release of Starfield.

Take a look at the teaser for The Elder Scrolls VI below

Bethesda-exec Todd Howard has promised big things for the sequel, saying it’ll be the ultimate fantasy RPG and should keep us occupied for at least a decade.

You’d hope he’s right too considering the long wait in-between The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which saw countless re-releases since its launch in 2011.

Now there’s no denying Skyrim has excellent staying-power, proven by it having more concurrent Steam players than Starfield, but if you’re bored of repeat playthroughs I’d highly recommend taking a step back to the previous entry in the series.

While The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion isn’t as refined as Skyrim, it doesn’t mean it’s not as fun, and with a few mods shuffled into the mix it’s at least on par with its successor in terms of enjoyment.

One such mod you should absolutely add to your game is AI Powered Landscape Re-texture.

It’s a straight-forward mod created by GBRPluss that upgrades the game’s visuals with remarkable effect.

Now it won’t bring it up to the quality of the latest new-gen releases, it’s not a miracle-worker, but it at least smoothes out some of the more bumpy textures that haven’t aged as well over the years.

It’s a handy little mod, and worth downloading if you’re planning to replay the game on PC before The Elder Scrolls VI comes out.

As for the release date of The Elder Scrolls VI, we’re unfortunately none the wiser as to when the game comes out, and if it only entered full development last year we likely won’t be seeing it for quite a while.
