The Elder Scrolls VI fans are finally get the development update we’ve been waiting for, which could take us one step closer to seeing some actual gameplay one day.
At this point, it’s starting to feel like we might be forgetting that Bethesda first announced The Elder Scrolls VI all the way back in 2018 at E3. Might I add, so much time has passed that what used to be the biggest gaming convention in existence, E3, no longer exists.
Let’s put the amount of time that has passed since The Elder Scrolls VI was announced into perspective. If you were 13-years-old when Todd Howard revealed the next entry in Bethesda’s fantasy RPG, at the time of writing, you’d now be considered a full-grown adult at 21.
Perhaps what makes it worse for fans of The Elder Scrolls series is that since its announcement eight years ago, Bethesda still hasn't given us a glimpse of any gameplay, let alone a release date. Heck, we’re not even 100% sure what platforms it will be available on.

However, this week, those eagerly awaiting news on The Elder Scrolls VI have just received a very promising update regarding the development of the highly anticipated RPG.
During an interview with Variety, Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty reiterated that The Elder Scrolls VI is not only still in production, but it also looks “amazing”.
“Having visited Bethesda and sat with Todd and seen Elder Scrolls playing, it looks amazing, and it’s coming along well. And we’ll make sure to announce it and really reveal it at the right time,” said Booty.
“Notably, he didn't specify The Elder Scrolls VI. This is clearly another Skyrim release,” joked Minute_One1.
“A crumb of news but a most welcome feast for the soul,” said VelvetDreamers.
“They should just stop with the communication, honestly. Wait to talk when something is ready,” suggested pauserror.
Truth be told, we have no idea when Bethesda will give us a substantial update on The Elder Scrolls VI. Many would have hoped that we’d get something at the Xbox Games Showcase last weekend during Summer Game Fest. Obviously, that never happened.
We can only hope that Microsoft might announce a dedicated showcase event for The Elder Scrolls VI this year, or at least, give us something at Gamescom or The Game Awards. But that might be wishful thinking. Either way, as soon as we hear of any new updates for The Elder Scrolls VI, we’ll let you know.
