As if we need an excuse to play The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The Bethesda title has a special place in the hearts of millions of gamers, and with hundreds of hours filled with things to do, people are constantly returning.

However, browse through the modding scene, and you’ll find even more reason to boot up Skyrim and dive back in.

One such example is Coldhaven, a lovely little fan-made expansion that gives players a whole new area to explore, along with a sinister undertone to revel in.

It turns out that there’s a huge underground vampire city underneath Skyrim, filled with shops, taverns and even a place for you to live.

Vampires and humans are allowed in, as long as you don’t mind the constant threat of someone wanting to drink your blood.

Described by the creator, it sounds like an ideal new settlement to explore - “There are taverns, inns, alchemy and magic shops, clothing shops, and a blacksmith. Commoners live and work in the lower levels of Coldhaven, mortal workers toil in the Thaeyalla fields and gold mine, while noble houses overlook their subordinates.”

However, there is a mystery that needs solving while you explore the darkness underground; the founder of the city is missing, and you’re the perfect hero to find out what happened.

That’s not all, other quests designed to give players more reason to head into the city will have you joining the Crimson Scars, or tracking down a lost fugitive.

In order to play, you will need to own the official Bethesda expansions, and it’s emphasised that this mod works well with all other vampire mods.

No need to stick with just this one if your desire for blood is insatiable.

With so many huge mods out there nowadays, a journey back to Skyrim is the perfect way to wait out the years until The Elder Scrolls VI.
