Fans excited for Bethesda’s upcoming title, The Elder Scrolls VI, think they’ve finally figured out the game’s release date and… well, they’ve certainly done their homework.
It’s always depressing to think back to that first teaser trailer for The Elder Scrolls VI, and how little we’ve heard regarding it since then.
Well, the wait is clearly driving one user over on the r/TESVI a bit mad, because they’ve put together a short novel’s worth of evidence that they think points to the game releasing at some point in 2026.

Numinex_Valerius’s theory is actually based in a lot of well-researched fact, as it mostly details quotes directly from Todd Howard regarding TES VI’s development.
It’s a long post but I genuinely recommend giving it a read if you’re feeling a bit hopeless about playing the game at some point this decade, because they conclude that The Elder Scrolls VI will release in 2026, and that we’ll even get an exact release date at the end of this year.
Perhaps the most shocking part about their entire theory is that the folks in the comments actually seem to think they’re onto something.
“Almost every Bethesda game starting from Morrowind released three to four years apart from each other, the only exception being Fallout 3,” commented user Benjamin_Starscape.

“Yes, even Starfield does technically fall into that four year gap. Even if we do count it as five years, that's largely due to the entire rework of the engine and covid, I fully expect The Elder Scrolls 6 to release either 2026 or 2027, following their release pattern.”
“Agreed. I think any time past 2027 is because they hit some major hiccups in dev,” replied user IkegayaReturnz.
“I expect it next year or early 2027. I expect to get a trailer at next year’s Xbox showcase and a release in the fall of next year. Like Fallout 4.”
Personally, I’ve always said that Bethesda will follow the same trend they’ve done with every game they’ve developed over the last decade.

They’ll announce a release date extremely close to the actual release of the game, just as they did with the likes of Skyrim and Fallout 4.
That’s my way of saying that I also have no idea when the game will actually drop, but that it’ll be very, very close to release once we finally do know an exact date.
