The Elder Scrolls VI has now officially made it up there with the likes of Hollow Knight: Silksong and a Bloodborne PC port.
Ok, maybe that is a bit dramatic considering that a PC port for Bloodborne has never been announced but when it comes to games that fans want right now, the list is definitely correct.
It is hard to believe that The Elder Scrolls VI was first announced way back in 2018 and all that fans have received is a (very) short teaser trailer and nothing since.

There is no denying that Bethesda has a lot of IPs to juggle but with it having been seven years without an update, it is understandable that fans are becoming more and more frustrated.
However, the update drought may be over according to a recent statement by Xbox head Phil Spencer.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original Xbox which takes place next year, Spencer has confirmed that 2026 will be “really special” for Xbox, especially due to returning franchises.
Could “returning franchises” refer to The Elder Scrolls VI perhaps?

Speaking on the official Xbox podcast, Spencer said the following:
"When you think about Fable, when you think about Gears, when you think about Forza, I mean, these are franchises that have been really part of what makes Xbox what it is today.”
Ok, so maybe not The Elder Scrolls.
“And then when I look at [2026] and our 25th anniversary and the franchises that we're going to launch in that year, I think it's going to be a really special year for Xbox next year."

So maybe?
Well, it seems as though some fans over on r/TESVI believe so as one user said, “The Elder Scrolls is surely one of them.
It will have been in production for 3 years by then with 5 years of pre-production behind it. 2026 re-reveal with a 2027 Elder Scrolls VI Direct.
Mark my words.

27 September 2027 is my predicted release date.”
However, it seems as though fellow fans are not sharing in the optimism.
“We all know in our bones it won't be TES VI.
You'll get the "Bethesda Presents" card during the stream, get hyped, and it will be a gator-wrestling update for FO 76,” the top comment reads.

Another user said, “I think it’s gotta be a next-gen release which would make it 27/28.”
Well, it remains to be seen when we will finally get our hands on The Elder Scrolls VI but let us hope we receive some news very soon.
