After The 'Rise Of The Ronin' Reveal, Fans Are All Saying The Same Thing

Team Ninja unveiled the incredible Rise Of The Ronin at yesterday's State Of Play showcase.

Yesterday was packed to the rafters with announcements. First up, Nintendo finally unveiled the title for the follow up to Breath Of The Wild before Sony later dropped a brand new story trailer for the highly-anticipated God Of War Ragnarök. Amidst all of our returning favourites though, several new games were announced including Team Ninja’s latest IP, Rise Of The Ronin.

Take a look at the trailer for Rise Of The Ronin below.

According to the official synopsis, the action RPG “takes you on an epic and unfettered journey as a Ronin at the dawn of a new era in Japan.” Rise Of The Ronin has currently been in development for seven years. Players will “embody a Ronin character, a warrior bound to no master and free to make choices of its own.”

It sure sounds like there’ll be a lot going on. The game is set during a period in which Japan “struggles with its oppressive rulers and deadly diseases while western influence permeates as civil war continues to rage between the Tokugawa Shogunate and the Anti-Shogunate factions.” Since the trailer was released, fans have all been saying the same thing.

Fans agreed that Rise Of The Ronin was the stand-out reveal of the showcase, but they couldn’t help but compare the game to Ghost of Tsushima and Assassin’s Creed Red. Reddit user Nomision wrote, “Did anyone else do a double take at first? Legit thought it was a sequel until the Ronin did a moonjump/fireslash combo. This feels like one step towards Assassin’s Creed from GoT.” Tom38 added, “Poor Assassin’s Creed going to come in and finally do their Japan game we've been asking for after all the other studios already did one and theirs is gonna end up on the bottom of the totem pole.” Rise Of The Ronin is set to release in 2024.
