A new leak reports that Capcom is planning story DLC for the upcoming release of Resident Evil Veronica, in addition to the already-announced expansion for Requiem.

This report comes via game developer and Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem, who has been right about certain details on earlier occasions, such as Leon being the second protagonist of Resident Evil Requiem.

Now, Dusk Golem has shared some information regarding Capcom’s plan for DLC for both Resident Evil Requiem and Resident Evil Veronica, but we may be waiting a while for those to see the light of day.

In response to a post on X (formerly Twitter) where Capcom producer Masachika Kawata says Capcom is focused on new entries or remakes for Resident Evil as opposed to spin-offs, Dusk Golem adds some details of their own.

“Capcom's temporary solution to there being no spin-offs in the works is they've, in the last few months, decided to focus on several major, hour-long DLC story expansions for Resident Evil Requiem & Veronica, & possibly future RE titles to fit into the current pipeline,” Dusk Golem writes on X.

Dusk Golem adds that both these DLCs will come out “way after the games” and clarifies that this is a recent choice for Capcom, presumably after seeing the warm reception to the Winters’ Expansion and Separate Ways DLCs, which launched for Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4.

Golem finishes the post by claiming that Resident Evil Requiem’s story DLC will be released in late 2027, after the release of Resident Evil Veronica. Meanwhile, the DLC for Veronica will come out in 2028, “over a year after the game came out”.

Resident Evil: Veronica is coming in 2027

Resident Evil Veronica is a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica, which was originally released in 2000 and remains one of the best Sega Dreamcast games of all time.

However, it’s strange to think about what the story DLC for the remake could be. Code: Veronica never had any expansions or spin-offs, so it seems it could be adapting new content that takes place around the same time as the events of the main game.

Unlike Resident Evil 4 remake’s Separate Ways DLC, which was already included in several versions of the original Resident Evil 4, this content would be brand new, which is why it’s odd.

Perhaps it’ll be a way for Capcom to bring back Jill Valentine in the timeline of the series that exists post-Raccoon City Incident, and may pave the way for a potential remake of Resident Evil 5 in the future.

Resident Evil: Veronica is scheduled to be released in 2027, but a concrete release date hasn’t been nailed down yet.

Meanwhile, Capcom has stated that it intends to release a new Resident Evil title every year, which may or may not include DLC experiences but almost certainly will include more remakes.

A few other games rumoured to be getting the remake treatment include Resident Evil 0 and the original Resident Evil from 1996.
