The upcoming Resident Evil Requiem story DLC has been indefinitely delayed, according to a prominent industry leaker following the announcement of the Code: Veronica remake.

On the opening night of Summer Game Fest last week, months of rumours were finally officially confirmed when the remake of 2000’s Resident Evil Code: Veronica was revealed to the world with an epic trailer.

It’s been a long time coming for fans of Capcom’s survival horror series, with some fearing that this remake may end up being overlooked entirely. The reason being, is that chronologically, the game officially known as Resident Evil Veronica should have followed the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes. Instead, it jumped straight to the RE4 remake in 2023.

In February this year, the latest mainline entry in the series was released with Resident Evil Requiem, taking us back to Raccoon City as Leon S. Kennedy and series newbie, Grace Ashcroft, 30 years after the T-Virus outbreak.

Resident Evil Requiem Story DLC is on the Way!

Not long after the release of Resident Evil Requiem, fans were treated to free content updates that included a new photo mode and the roguelike sub-game, ‘Leon Must Die Forever’. However, when Capcom announced the free content updates, we also received news that there would be a premium story expansion.

It’s widely expected that the upcoming story DLC, which doesn't have a name yet or its story details revealed, will be released at some point this year, but that may no longer be the case, according to industry leaker Dusk Golem.

“Word in the grapevine is that the RE9 DLC is releasing after Resident Evil Veronica. To see how it plays out, but it's been murmured to be further out,” tweeted Dusk Golem, replying to a question from a follower.

So, When Can We Expect The Resident Evil Requiem DLC?

At this moment, it’s pure guesswork. Resident Evil Veronica doesn't have a release date other than a vague 2027 launch window. If I were to take a guess, judging by recent Resident Evil release windows, Resident Evil Veronica could arrive at any point between January and May 2027. But that’s pure speculation on my part.

Hopefully, with a bit of luck, later this year, Capcom might confirm a solid release date for Resident Evil Veronica during an in-house showcase event with the Resident Evil Requiem story DLC alongside it.

That being said, as always, we should take all unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise, and we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we learn more. If there’s one comfort from this rumour, it's that “indefinitely” isn't forever, so the DLC will arrive at some point.

Resident Evil Requiem is out now on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2. As for Resident Evil Veronica, we do know that it will also be released on the aforementioned platforms.
