Capcom has announced a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica, set for release in 2027.

Kicking off Summer Game Fest 2026, the opening trailer for the showcase features a scene from Resident Evil Code: Veronica.

The announcement comes following years of rumours, continuing on from Capcom's success with previous Resident Evil remakes.

In the trailer, we get a glimpse of Claire Redfield, as well as an apartment complex in Paris in what appears to be an extended prologue from the original game.

Claire explores the apartment, before being grabbed by a mysterious figure in the apartment hallway.

Here is the trailer for Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake.

It appears to still be using the RE Engine, Capcom's proprietary engine which it has been using since Resident Evil 7: biohazard in 2017.

Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake is set for release in 2027.

No details on platforms have been released yet, but given Resident Evil: Requiem's success earlier this year, we'd expect PS5, PC, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 to see the game when it releases. I'd imagine we'll hear more about it later this year, once Capcom is ready to share more details.

The remake of Code Veronica follows previous Resident Evil remakes, with 2002's Resident Evil, then a trilogy of remakes between 2019 and 2023 reviving Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4.

Resident Evil Code: Veronica released in 2000 for the SEGA Dreamcast. It later saw re-releases on PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo GameCube.

It features Resident Evil protagonist Chris Redfield, as well as his sister, Resident Evil 2's Claire, who must survive a viral outbreak at a remote prison island in the Southern Ocean and a research facility in Antarctica.

It is often seen an entry to play between Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4, tying up some loose knots from the Raccoon City trilogy while also setting up the events of Resident Evil 4.
