Resident Evil Requiem featured some pretty terrifying sequences; that first nail-biting encounter with The Girl is a prime example.
That’s all starting to look like child’s play though, compared to the wildly scary new horror game ILL, which received an updated look and launch window during yesterday’s State of Play (2 June).
It was all the way back in 2021 that ILL was first announced, with this hyper-realistic horror having been in development for many, many years.
Developed by Mundfish and Team Clout, ILL is now confirmed to be arriving on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam in 2027.

This first-person survival horror is set within a facility where our protagonist must fend off “horrific Abberations” and “grotesque monstrosities” in order to unravel the truth behind a catastrophe that has taken place, a press release confirms.
As mentioned, the game makes use of hyper-realistic visuals, with the blood-soaked trailer showcasing some really gruesome combat animations.
In a press release, devs describe the game as “a pure unforgiving horror experience where every threat is deadly, and resources are critically scarce”.
Players will have firearms at their disposal to deal with the game’s many threats but ammunition is scarce, prompting you to be creative in how you deal with Aberrations.
“Players can utilise objects around them to gain the upper hand,” it's teased. “Hurl bricks to stun enemies, and rip pipes that will degrade with use straight from the walls.”
Abberations, if you’re yet to watch the trailer, appear to be some form of corrupted undead humans.
“This is the true highlight of that State of Play. This looks insane,” remarked one YouTube viewer.
“Best trailer from the show,” added another.
“Looks absolutely phenomenal,” someone remarked.
As a fun nod for horror fans, it was previously confirmed that the protagonist is voiced by Nick Apostolides of Leon Kennedy and Resident Evil fame.
“We are thrilled to finally announce our release window, and we are working tirelessly
to deliver on our ambitious vision for players to enjoy,” said Max Verehin, game director of ILL.
“With this new trailer, we’re excited to not only showcase new types of terrifying monstrosities, but also begin introducing you to the game’s intriguing characters.”
Mundfish CEO Robert Bagratuni added, “ILL isn't just visually stunning, it redefines how real a horror game can feel. The mystery we’re beginning to unveil with this story trailer will pull players in just as deeply. We can't wait for players to experience it firsthand.”
