You can claim free Resident Evil 30th anniversary goodies right now, but you need to act fast, because they’re only available for a limited time.
Recently, Capcom celebrated 30 years of its iconic survival horror series, Resident Evil. When we first ventured as members of the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team into the Spencer Mansion in 1996 on the original PlayStation, the series won the hearts of millions of gamers across the world, with its community still growing to this day.
“As a horror game in its own right, Resident Evil Requiem is a very solid nine out of ten, but as a passionate fan of the series, it earns an additional bonus point thanks to the attention to detail and craft that’s gone into every pore of this game,” I said in my review in February 2026.
As part of the Resident Evil celebrations, Capcom and PlayStation are treating us to some fancy profile avatars inspired by gorgeous 30th anniversary artwork and the criminally underrated animated movies inspired by the survival horror series.
However, there are some unexpected and seemingly unnecessary hoops to jump through to claim the freebies. Typically, to claim free avatars from PlayStation, it’s a simple case of redeeming a region-specific code on the PS Store. But annoyingly, that’s not the case here.

Firstly, you need a PlayStation Network profile; that much is obvious. Yet, it’s the next series of steps that get rather silly, all for claiming some simple avatars.
Next, you have to wishlist or purchase Resident Evil Requiem digitally from the PlayStation Store. Then download the Sony Pictures Core app on your console. Then sign up to the campaign website to claim the voucher for the free avatars.
I have signed up to claim the free Resident Evil avatars via PlayStation.com. But I’m yet to receive the codes. I don’t know whether this is because I already downloaded Resident Evil Requiem digitally, or if they’ve simply not been emailed yet.
That being said, it might be worth keeping in mind that the code could be emailed as late as June 2026, when this campaign ends. It feels like a long time to wait for some avatars if you’ve recently clicked the link to claim them.
Either way, a lot of gamers understandably aren't happy with all the required steps to claim the free Resident Evil avatars, instead of just providing region-specific redemption codes.
“This is ridiculous,” commented Trevaced
“And they won’t deliver till June, and they are the lowest effort screenshots readily available online, and not a single avatar from the actual new game. What are they thinking?” exclaimed RinoTheBouncer.
“Why is it region locked?” asked Luscielia.
Resident Evil Requiem is out now on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2.
