An industry leaker believes that a new Resident Evil remake will be revealed at Summer Game Fest today, 5 June.
At this point, hearing news on the next Resident Evil remake is nothing new, and we may have even become immune to any of the new leaks that surround its inevitable arrival. However, by the end of today, we could learn either way, whether there were any truths behind those rumours all along.
When it comes to the rumours, a new Resident Evil remake specifically, we’ve heard everything from the original game getting a second remake, as well as the not-so-favoured Resident Evil 0. Heck, we’ve even heard rumours that Resident Evil 5 will be the next remake, which would make chronological sense given that the last remake was RE4 in 2023.
That being said, if we’re talking about a chronological release of Resident Evil remakes, we’ve already missed one major release, and that's Resident Evil Code: Veronica, which should have arrived after the RE3 remake in 2020, and before RE4 of 2023. But it seems that wrong could be made right soon.
“ScreenFire Germany: 99% chance of Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake at Summer Game Fest tomorrow,” announced Redditor Ok_Rent_3748, sharing a link to the speculative YouTube video.

Reddit user Ok_Rent_3748 also mentions that ScreenFire Germany provided reliable information regarding Resident Evil Requiem before it launched in February this year, so make of that what you will.

“Gotta say, this is shaping up to be the best not-E3 since the death of E3,” replied JuanMunoz99.
“Geoff [Keighley] isn’t teasing partner announcements like he did in previous years. Maybe he’s got some big surprises lined up this time,” suggested TAGOMXM.
“Capcom has a lot coming with SGF,” claimed LukePS7013. “REC: V remake, RE9 DLC, Street Fighter 6 Season 4, Monster Hunter Wilds DLC, maybe even a new game?”
“Please! I've been enjoying all the remakes and modern Resident Evils so much. This is a day one buy for me,” exclaimed Steponmemarasov.
Absolutely, it could. While there is a chance Capcom could announce something entirely different related to the series, out of all the possible Resident Evil remakes, it feels like Code: Veronica has had the most traction across social media in recent months.
However, there is also a distinct possibility that no remake announcement will be made and if we just get the story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem, that still might be enough to keep fans happy in the meantime. We’ll keep you posted if any new information drops.
Resident Evil Requiem is out now on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2.
