Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake is Real and "Deep in Development," Confirms Leaker

The winner of the "Leaker of the Year Award" just confirmed that a new Resident Evil remake is on its way

The most well-regarded leaker in video game history has just corroborated the rumour we’ve all been hearing for months: a Resident Evil - Code: Veronica remake is on its way, and it sounds like it will be with us a lot sooner than we expected.

If you’ve not played Resident Evil - Code: Veronica, you are missing out. It may not be the most beloved entry in the Resident Evil series, by any stretch of the imagination, but it has earned itself a lot of fans over the years due to how absolutely bonkers its story is.

It’s also your only opportunity to play through another Resident Evil game as Claire Redfield, protagonist of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil: Revelations 2, as Capcom seemingly forgot she existed after 2013.

Rumours of a Resident Evil - Code: Veronica remake have been circulating online for a while now. However, considering that said rumours have all stemmed from a single source, fans have been hesitant about taking them too seriously– until now.

Resident Evil-obsessed leaker Dusk Golem has been waffling on about remakes for Resident Evil - Code: Veronica and Resident Evil 0 since early 2025, and, to be fair to them, their track record regarding Capcom leaks has been pretty spot on so far.

That being said, although Dusk Golem might be reliable, they’re not quite on the same level as NateTheHate. I’m not exaggerating when I say that every NateTheHate leak I’ve covered in the last couple of years has eventually been proven to be true, which is probably why they were just awarded 2025’s “Leaker of the Year Award” by the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit.

Well, NateTheHate decided to celebrate winning the coveted award by corroborating Dusk Golem’s Resident Evil - Code: Veronica rumour.

When asked about the veracity of the leak on X a few days ago, NateTheHate had this to say: “Yes, Code Veronica is being remade & deep in development. Target of release is first half 2027.”

No offence to Dusk Golem, because I personally believed them, but having NateTheHate weigh in on this ups the leak’s odds from “quite likely” to “borderline 100% confirmed” for me.

Also, given Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil release schedule, hearing that it will drop in mid-2027 does make a lot of sense.

With Resident Evil Requiem dropping in just over a month, and Zach Cregger's Resident Evil movie set to drop at the end of the year, it’s clear that Capcom is going all-in on the franchise at the moment. Capitalising on all this momentum with a heavily fan-requested remake just sounds like the cherry on top to me.
