Remakes are all the rage right now, with Resident Evil 4 undoubtedly being one of 2023’s very best.

There are plenty more on the way, including Silent Hill 2, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. We could also be getting Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, although both of those projects look to be in trouble. If you speak to Resident Evil fans and ask them which franchise entry they’d like to see adapted next, I’m going to take a wild guess and say that the vast majority of people would answer with the very excellent Resident Evil - Code: Veronica.

Take a look at the latest trailer for Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth below.

Released back in 2000 for the Dreamcast, Resident Evil - Code: Veronica is set three months after the events of Resident Evil 2. The game follows Claire Redfield who’s sent to Rockfort Island after being captured by Umbrella. A viral outbreak follows and soon enough, the typical frightening Resi chaos ensues.

If you hop on over to social media, it won’t take you long to find a whole legion of fans calling for a remake. “I will not rest until I have the RE: Code Veronica remake,” one Twitter user wrote, with another adding, “I’d never really say that any of the other RE games need a remake. This is the major exception. Code Veronica 100% needs a remake, badly.”

Back in March, we reported on a poll which asked Resi fans which game they’d like to see remade next. Almost 80% voted for Code: Veronica, a clear majority. If you’re looking for a more immediate fix while we await for Capcom to reveal their plans, there is a fan-made remake of the game and it boasts some very impressive gameplay.
