Resident Evil fans optimistic following Code Veronica remake tease

Not every game needs to be huge

One insider has revealed that the upcoming Resident Evil - Code: Veronica and Resident Evil Zero remakes will not be on the same scale as the iconic Resident Evil 4 Remake.

However, fans are still left feeling optimistic about the future of the Capcom franchise, especially as Resident Evil 9 is also in development at the time of writing.

Take a glimpse at Resident Evil - Code: Veronica below!

We all remember how incredible the 2023 Resident Evil 4 Remake was, allowing us to experience the 2005 survival horror in vivid detail for the first time.

The remake went on to receive critical acclaim and was even nominated for Game of the Year awards - and became the fastest selling Resident Evil title, selling well over 9 million copies in just a year.

However, remaking Resident Evil 4 was no easy task; it was a hard one to tackle in terms of scale, scope, and expectations.

That's least according to insider Dusk Golem (also known as AestheticGamer) who took to Discord to share some insider knowledge about the upcoming Resident Evil - Code: Veronica and Resident Evil Zero remakes.

In his Discord channel, he claimed that these remakes won’t be as “ambitious” as the Resident Evil 4 Remake but were chosen for a number of reasons.

Not only that but he also confirms that these two remakes are the only Resident Evil remakes in development at this time.

This is, of course, alongside Resident Evil 9 which is rumoured to be releasing later this year, or early 2026 if there is a slight delay.

It wasn’t long before this news took to r/HorrorGaming and fans soon gathered to discuss DuskGolem’s latest leaks.

“I'm more interested in how they compare to RE2R. Saying a game isn't as ambitious as RE4R isn't saying much, as it's the most ambitious of the series, excluding 6,” user Bailenstein shared.

Another user respected the decision Capcom has seemingly made.

“That's more than fair, I appreciate smaller games,” they commented.

“Not everything needs to be a AAA affair. As long as Zero and CV get love, that's fine.”

Hopefully we will find out more information surrounding these two remakes, and Resident Evil 9, later this year.
