'Resident Evil 4' Remake Will Focus More On Horror Than Action

New leaked details about the supposed Resident Evil 4 remake have surfaced, and apparently Capcom wants it to be even spookier than before.

So, in case you weren’t aware, the internet is having a bit of a moment at the minute over the Resident Evil 4 remake. And by that, I mean the potential of a Resident Evil 4 remake, because one hasn’t actually been officially announced. But wait, don’t go scrolling away, because there’s a lot of leaked information that’s strongly pointing to the idea that it is happening, and by the sounds of it, very soon.

According to a new report by Fanbyte, Capcom isn’t looking to recreate the entire game scene-by scene, but actually shake things up a bit. For starters, although the original game began with Leon S. Kennedy setting foot in the village in the daytime, the remake will apparently see him arrive at nighttime instead, and a large portion of the game will take place during the night, too.

We do actually already have a Resident Evil 4 remake of sorts - it was rebuilt for VR last year. Take a look below.

If you’re sat there thinking ‘why?’, Capcom has a very simple answer for you - nighttime is spooky. Reportedly, they want to adjust the tone to make it even creepier, taking inspiration from the early, scrapped previews of the game on GameCube.

Additionally, there’s supposedly going to be some changes to the story itself, alongside giving side characters bigger roles. One way this might be happening is with expansions to Assignment: Ada and Separate Ways, which are set to be combined into one bigger, more fluid side-story. This directly contradicts a different leak which was circulating last week, though - which claimed that Assignment: Ada has been scrapped completely, so at least one of these is certainly wrong.

Last November, D.C. Douglas, the voice actor for Albert Wesker, added a whole bunch of fuel to the remake-hype fire when he apparently broke an NDA on a livestream, sharing concept art for the game sent to him by Capcom. He also claimed he’d be playing Wesker, which, if that was true, there’s a good chance he won’t be now.

Fanbyte’s report claims that Capcom are hoping to announce the remake early this year, so hopefully we won’t be waiting long to see if all the rumours are true.
