It looks like the highly anticipated remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica is finally happening, that’s at least according to an industry insider.
Originally released in 2000 on the SEGA Dreamcast, Resident Evil Code: Veronica is considered by some to be the last old-school entry in Capcom’s iconic survival horror series, with its tank controls and (somewhat) fixed camera angle perspective.
Taking place in 1998, following the events of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Claire Redfield is trying to discover the whereabouts of her missing brother, Chris Redfield.
Claire’s investigation leads to Rockfort Island, located somewhere in the South Pacific Ocean. Typically, this is an Umbrella Corp-owned island, and is used as a prison and secret research facility. As such, Claire’s investigation got a lot more complicated.

However, not taking into account basic re-releases, it’s been 25 years since the release of Resident Evil Code: Veronica, and fans are desperate to see it return with a full remake built from the ground up.
Rumours have been circulating for a while that Capcom is working on a remake behind the scenes, but at least publicly, we’ve had no official confirmation that a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica exists.
That being said, according to video game industry insider Dusk Golem, aka AestheticGamer (thanks AGivenSoul), the rumoured remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica does indeed exist.

What’s more, the other rumoured remake of Resident Evil Zero is also in the works. It’s claimed that Capcom intends both remakes to be released sometime in 2027 and 2028, but it’s not clear as to which will be released first.
Advert
It’s also claimed that the Capom development team that brought us the Resident Evil 2 remake, Division 1, will be working on Resident Evil Code: Veronica.
Whereas the teams responsible for the Resident Evil 3 remake will be working on Resident Evil Zero. If true, that could mean that Capcom will be overseeing K2 Inc. and/or M-Two.
As always, we should take all unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise, and we’ll keep you updated once we learn more about this developing story.
In the meantime, we can look forward to the release of Resident Evil Requiem on 27 February 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
