Over the years there have been more than a lot of Resident Evil games, ranging in quality from the best to the very worst of the genre the series helped to define. In recent years, developer Capcom has taken to revamping the earlier games in the series with full remakes.
Resident Evil 1-4 have all undergone the remake treatment and with impressive success, so its little wonder attention has now turned to which games are up next.
According to information shared by leaker Dusk Golem on Twitter/X, the next games in line are Resident Evil - Code: Veronica and Resident Evil Zero, both of which originally released before the already remade Resident Evil 4.
This jump backwards to games which do largely directly follow the stories from their predecessors is an interesting one, with the initial skip to RE4 likely down to lessening commercial risk with a more popular game.

The remakes are set to release in 2027 and 2028, though it's unclear in what order. The development team behind the Resident Evil 2 & 4 Remakes are heading up the work going into Code: Veronica, while the Resident Evil 3 team is taking the reins for Zero.
Concerns over the team behind the less well received Resident Evil 3 are being voiced loudly across social media, with one simply saying, "Why would they ever bring back the team that messed up Resident Evil 3?"
The character switching mechanic in Resident Evil Zero should offer real room for improvement over the original, even if it was already one of the most dynamic and interesting features in that game.
At the time of writing, these remain unconfirmed rumours with Capcom yet to comment in any capacity. Their diversion away from Resident Evil 5 is bound to cause discussion though, with many seeing that as the strongest existing candidate for a remake.
