A new Resident Evil game is on the way, but its genre might take some fans of the series by surprise.
First announced in July 2024, Capcom revealed that it was working on the next Resident Evil. We later learned that its official name is Resident Evil Requiem, with fans being treated to an epic trailer sending social media into a frenzy.
Resident Evil Requiem will see players return to Raccoon City, 30 years after a nuke was dropped in an attempt to cover up the zombie outbreak caused by the T-Virus, thanks to the sinister pharmaceutical company, Umbrella Corps.
There have been rumours that Capcom could be remaking a series of classic entries, including Resident Evil Code: Veronica, and even Resident Evil Zero. However, we now know that a new game is on the way, but it’s probably not what you’d expect.

As brought to our attention by BleedingCool, developed by the Japanese Sony subsidiary, Aniplex and the South Korean studio JoyCity, they will be collaborating to create a Resident Evil RTS for Android and iOS mobile devices.
The RTS in question is called Resident Evil Survival Unit, and while not much else is known about the spin-off title, both development studios are said to be working closely with Capcom to ensure that it remains authentic to the series.
Resident Evil Survival Unit is intended to launch in multiple regions across the world, including Europe, North America and Asia.
There will be a dedicated Capcom showcase event on YouTube for Resident Evil Survival Unit, where we’ll learn more about the mobile title on 10 July 2025.

As a huge and quite obsessed Resident Evil fan, I can’t say that I’m overly optimistic about a mobile RTS spin-off. But I’ll at least give it the benefit of the doubt.
As for Resident Evil Requiem, that’s currently scheduled to be released on 27 February 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
