Red Dead Redemption remade in RDR2's engine is so good I could cry

Can we just have an official remake, please?

Fans have been dying to see the original Red Dead Redemption remade for modern consoles and while it seems unlikely that we’ll get an official release a fan has taken matters into their own hands.

The original Red Dead Redemption was released in 2010 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 before being ported to modern systems. In Red Dead Redemption, you play John Marston, a former member of the infamous Dutch van der Linde gang desperate to leave the life of crime behind.

Check out the Red Dead Redemption trailer below!

Escaping from his past life of crime has proven not to be an easy process for John Marston and his family and thus begins his epic tale of redemption. In 2018, we were then treated to Red Dead Redemption 2 which is a prequel to the 2010 game.

While Red Dead Redemption 2 featured John Marston and his family, the main playable protagonist (or antagonist depending on your actions) is Arthur Morgan, a leading member of the aforementioned Dutch van der Linde gang. Rumours were making the rounds that Rockstar Games is remaking Red Dead Redemption but those rumours were later followed up with talk of it being cancelled in favour of a simple port.

The rumoured Red Dead Redemption remake was expected to be powered by the same engine used in the 2018 game but sadly, we’ll likely never know for sure. However, giving us a painful glimpse of what could have been, dedicated fan soundslikepizza has remade the 2010 game using the Red Dead Redemption 2 engine and it looks so good, I could cry.

While the lip-sync is out due to having to use sound bites from the original game implemented in the fan remake, the concept trailer uploaded to the soundslikepizza YouTube channel looks fantastic showcasing scenes and characters from Red Dead Redemption.

It’s a shame that Rockstar Games reportedly canned its remake because if this concept trailer looks as good as this, just imagine how good the official remake would have looked.
