There’s a lot to love about Red Dead Redemption 2, and it’s arguably one of the best games of all time, with popularity that hasn’t wavered nearly five years after release. You could praise its gameplay, open world, and characters all day, but its best trait has to be its story, the emotional journey of Arthur Morgan, trying to do right in a world full of wrong.

The game’s ending, Chapter 6, is the pièce de résistance, with a heart-breaking climax that’s enough to make a grown man cry, and players are hailing it as an “absolute masterpiece” in storytelling.

Reddit user ASTROSWIMMER24 made a post proclaiming that they’d just finished Chapter 6, thus concluding the main part of the game, simply saying: “I…finished chapter 6. Absolute masterpiece, Arthur is an amazing character and this game is just gorgeous. What an amazing experience.”

The journey’s end for Red Dead Redemption 2 has shaken many players to the core with it’s powerful conclusion, and while the game does continue past the ending of the main story, it never truly feels the same. It truly is a credit to Rockstar Games’ ability to create such a compelling narrative and cast of characters.

Other Reddit users who’ve experienced the game for themselves felt the exact same way, reacting to the screenshot ASTROSWIMMER24 shared of a crucial scene in the game’s ending.

“I never cried to a video game before. But when Thats The Way It Is started playing, It just gets me”

“I knew what the image was, I still clicked, I still immediately teared up”

“He was an amazing character you can go back but it’s never the same”

The game’s ending truly is a masterpiece, there’s no denying it, and it hits all the marks for what an emotional ending to a story should be, which isn’t something new for the series. Rockstar really put their heart and soul into Red Dead Redemption 2, so it’s no wonder why fans are still relentlessly replaying it over and over and over again.
