Red Dead Redemption 2: World Of Beauty mod blows fans away

Red Dead Redemption 2's World Of Beauty mod overhauls the game's visuals massively - it's seriously impressive.

Saying that Red Dead Redemption 2 is a very pretty game might just be my most lukewarm take of all time, but I’m doing it anyway.

Despite being almost five years old now, and still unoptimised for PS5 and Xbox Series X (that new-gen update might never happen, apparently), Red Dead Redemption 2 hasn’t aged a day. Few games can provide screenshots so visually stunning that real-life TV stations could mistake them for real life photographs, but Rockstar Games’ rootinest tootinest action-adventure really did that.

Take a look at some of the funniest wins and fails from Red Dead Redemption 2 below.

Anyway, just in case you thought that RDR2 couldn’t look any better, think again. One talented modder has created the Red Dead Redemption World Of Beauty mod - a reshade mod which makes the game’s world look more detailed than ever before. Created by Nexus Mods user Scottyus1, you need only take a quick glance at the before and after screenshots of the mod in action to see that the difference is genuinely night and day. Not only are the textures way more crisp, but the colours are much more vibrant - all in all, it feels like that moment when you put on glasses on for the first time and realise that everything else you'd ever seen up to that point was blurry.

What’s more, it can be stacked together with other creators' texture mods to make one big, juicy, shiny visual sandwich. Hey, if Rockstar Games isn’t going to give us a new-gen graphical update, someone’s got to do it.

Sadly, as with any mod, this can only be used by those with the PC version of the game, so fans on PlayStation and Xbox are out of luck. However, it’s totally free, so if you already have the game on Steam, there’s nothing stopping you from giving it a go. You can find and download it - as well as look at loads of gorgeous screenshots - here.
