Someone has figured out how to freely explore an area in Red Dead Redemption 2 that’s usually impossible to get into (without the game trying to stop you at least).

As revealed over on the r/RDR2 subreddit, user GeneralChillMen posted a trick that allows players to explore Blackwater as Arthur - prior to the game actually letting you.

As fans will doubtlessly know, exploring Blackwater is usually impossible prior to completing Chapter 6 of Red Dead Redemption 2.

Well, “impossible” might not be the right word, as you can technically get into that area of the map beforehand, but Rockstar made it pretty difficult to do so without getting murdered.

If you do go into Blackwater prior to completing Chapter 6, law enforcement will endlessly spawn and gun you down. You can do your best to fight them off, but it does make exploring the area a bit of a nightmare.

But using a cute little exploit actually makes it so that law enforcement will never spawn, ensuring that you can explore without the threat of getting shot.

“It’s easy. Just do it while carrying a passenger, be it a bounty, Swanson,Jamie, or Jack,” posted user Mojo_Rizen_53, “Enemies won’t spawn during a mission, be it Pinkertons, Bounty Hunters or predators.”

As Mojo_Rizen_53 explains, this is only actually possible during a mission. You can’t just hogtie a random NPC and do whatever you like (in fact that will probably cause the law enforcement to spawn before you even get to Blackwater).

So, beyond just doing it for funsies, is there any point in doing this? Well, you could go grab a bunch of collectables earlier than you’re supposed to, but otherwise not really.

If you were hoping this article was about Mexico though, then good news - because there are a bunch of different ways you can explore that area of the map too (but it’s probably best done with mods).
