Red Dead Redemption 2’s enormous open-world is one we could explore for hours, and many have across multiple playthroughs.
While the main story is ace I think most players would agree that it’s the side-content that really makes the game special, and we can’t wait to see what Rockstar Games has cooked up for Grand Theft Auto VI later this year.
Now there’s a big long list of Easter eggs, secret interactions and open-world puzzles to discover in Red Dead Redemption 2 but one that’s always bugged me is Emerald Ranch.
On a recent playthrough I somehow found myself there whilst exploring, and was surprised to see a woman staring out one of the big house’s windows before retreating further inside. It unnerved me, but despite investigating further and having a brawl with the ranch’s owner I didn’t learn any more about the woman, yet I somehow knew there was more to the story.

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one either as Emerald Ranch was featured on TheGameVerse’s X list of Red Dead Redemption 2 secrets, and there were plenty of players equally unnerved and confused about the in-game location.
A note can apparently be found stating the woman in the house was locked inside by the owner, and NPCs will say the same, but as if it was just a rumour.

One commenter hit the nail on the head saying “Emerald Ranch feels like it was cut content or the set up to a potential DLC we never got,” I couldn’t agree more.
To say Red Dead Redemption 2 is more of an action adventure it’s actually pretty scary, and many players have commented on the surprising amount of creepy or disturbing events/stories you can encounter in the game. The Strange Man is another good example, though he’s more prominent in the first game.
While Grand Theft Auto VI will presumably have a bigger open-world, and a more dense one at that, we’re sure it’ll have just as many interesting side missions to undertake.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City had its fair share of creepy encounters and Easter eggs, and with the iconic location returning for the new game it’d be nice to see some of them revisited, though we’re of course more excited for the brand new ones.
I’d recommend checking out TheGameVerse’s full list of Red Dead Redemption 2 secrets too, there’s a lot of good stuff in the thread.
