Look, we all love Red Dead Redemption 2. But I think we all know that there's one massive issue with the game that those lazy swine at Rockstar Games never bothered to fix.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a damn-near perfect video game, one filled with intricate details and so much to do and see. It's the perfect Wild West simulator, allowing you to hunt, camp, rob, and survive however you see fit.

Take a look at the best Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below!

But if there's one thing Rockstar's Western epic is missing, it's that you can't actually go on adventures with your own little canine friend. That's an unforgivable omission.

Obviously, there are tons of dogs in Red Dead Redemption 2. You can even pet and play with them, or shoot them if you're a nasty piece of work who just wants to watch the virtual world burn. Alas, the one thing you can't do is take one back to your camp, or travel the world with them. Fortunately, there's a mod that aims to correct this mistake. And make no mistake, it is a mistake. I said mistake too many times.

The Dog Companion mod is available right now via NexusMods, and it does what it says on the tin: You can choose your own faithful pooch and explore with them till you can explore no more. All you need to do after having installed the mod is walk up to a dog you like the look of (ie, all of them)and choose the new "bonding" option. Once you've done that, they'll follow you around wherever you go. Bad news for the farmer whose dog you've just pinched, but great news for you. Anyway, you're an outlaw. Take what you want and live free - that includes dogs.

Once you have your dog on the road with you, you can tell them to sit and wait, or whistle for them to call them back within a certain range. If they get lost, you retrieve them by heading to your horse and picking them up there. They'll even help with combat and hunting, because they truly are man's bestie.
