PlayStation Plus is one of the better subscriptions services available to gamers more generally, but for those who main Sony's flagship console, it's a bit of a must have at the moment.
The monthly games to download and keep have been particularly strong in recent months, with the recently revealed November line-up only furthering that stellar run of form.
Outside of that, new games are rolling out all the time as part of the wider catalogue, and it's two of those recent additions that bring us here.
There are plenty of remakes, remasters and rereleases hitting virtual shelves at the moment, with many serving as the exact tonic that some games need to bring them forward into 2025.

Well, you can now count two more big name titles in that number, as both first-person survival The Long Dark and PUBG: Battlegrounds see brand new PS5 releases that should modernise the experience significantly.

Sharing the news on their official BlueSky profile, developer Hinterland Studios said the following: "Players! We're excited to share the news that the PS5 version of THE LONG DARK is now live!
"This includes both the standalone and the free upgrade for anyone who owns the PS4 version (includes PlayStation Plus subscribers)."

If you want to buy the game outright without PlayStation Plus, it will set you back £34.99, but you do get both versions of the game for that price, so it's an option regardless of which generation console you use.
PUBG: Battlegrounds is transitioning to the PS5 version today as well, and there's an exclusive bundle available to PlayStation Plus members, regardless of which tier you subscribe to.
That includes five Hunter's Chests, five keys, 80 Contraband Coupons and a Pixel Art Parachute for use in the game.
Unfortunately, that news does mean that PS4 users will no longer be able to play.

In explaining the decision via a blog post, PUBG Studios had the following to say: "To provide our players with a more stable gameplay environment on console and ensure a smoother, more seamless experience with future updates, we’ve decided to transition to current-gen consoles.
"Following this transition, console players will see improved visuals and more stable frame rates. In addition, we expect to reduce ongoing crash issues through memory-related optimizations."
Both games / offers are available to download right now, so why not set yourself up for the weekend?
You've nothing to lose.
