PlayStation Plus Warning, Gamers Could Lose December Free Game

Something to be aware of

PlayStation Plus has really only been improving as a service over the last few years as Sony continues to offer incentives in an effort to directly compete with Xbox Game Pass and other similar subscription models.

Each month, users are rewarded with the opportunity to download and keep free games, with a rotating selection each month to keep things fresh, with games available even at the cheapest membership tier.

In addition, it also allows players to play multiplayer games online with their friends, as well as access a bunch of fun little additional rewards, like profile cosmetics and in-game bonuses or boosts.

This latest glut of free games as part of the PS Plus offering interestingly has one potential pitfall that you may well want to be aware of before you get it downloaded, particularly if you want to keep it forever.

LEGO Horizon Adventures Catalogue and Monthly PS Plus Clash

As first pointed out over at ComicBook.com, LEGO Horizon Adventures has the potential to trip up excited fans who may download it with every intention of keeping it forever, without actually being able to do so.

The issue arises as LEGO Horizon Adventures is available as part of both the monthly games offering for PS Plus, and the wider catalogue of games that cycle in and out for players to play while the licenses hold up.

Though you don't have to worry about any of this if you are subscribed to the Essential tier of the service, if you are an Extra or Premium subscriber, it's possible that you won't be able to keep the game forever if you download the version that has the catalogue license attached to it.

To avoid this, you simply need to download the correct version on the PS Plus page on your console and you should be fine, but it's an annoying issue that has cropped up before, and one that Sony should really do something about before more people are caught out when games are removed from the catalogue.

LEGO Horizon Adventures is joined in the latest monthly PS Plus offering by a ton of other games that are well worth downloading if you're a fan of their respective genres.

Those include Killing Floor 3, The Outlast Trials, SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada and Neon White, with other big titles like Assassin's Creed Mirage and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty joining the catalogue in December.
