We're barely one week into February (unfortunately), but Sony has already confirmed one of the free games that PlayStation Plus subscribers can expect to add to their libraries in March.
While the full lineup of March 2022 PlayStation Plus games has yet to be officially revealed, and will likely remain a mystery until the end of February, Sony has confirmed one freebie for the middle of March that you won't want to miss: Grand Theft Auto Online.
That's right, the ridiculously popular online crime sim will be made available to PS Plus subscribers from March 15. Okay, that's not actually that exciting... until you consider that it's actually going to be the "expanded and enhanced" edition for PlayStation 5.
The upshot of this, of course, is that this particular PS Plus freebie will only be available to those with a PlayStation 5. Congratulations to the 14 of you that actually have one. Oh, and unlike most PS Plus free games, GTA Online will only remain free to subscribers for a limited time - it'll hang around for three months before you're expected to fork out to carry on playing.

If you've been paying attention, this probably won't even come as a huge surprise. When Sony and Rockstar Games announced the new-gen version of GTA V and GTA Online, way back in 2020, it confirmed that GTA Online would be a temporary freebie for PS Plus users. Well, now we know exactly when to expect it.
Given all these factors, it's worth pointing out that GTA Online almost certainly isn't going to be counted as one of the main PS Plus games for March 2022. Undoubtedly Sony has three, more permanent, free games planned that will be released for subscribers at the start of March. We'll be sure to update as soon as we learn what the next batch of PS Plus free games are.
