Play Tekken 8 for free ahead of release on PlayStation, Steam, and Xbox

You can play Tekken 8 for free ahead of release by signing up to Bandai Namco's closed network beta test, due to take place next month.

It’s been an eventful couple of weeks in the gaming world. Between the PlayStation Showcase, Summer Game Fest and Xbox Showcase, we’ve been treated to some incredible reveals - and we’ve still got today’s Ubisoft Forward to go. Throughout all of this though, one game that surprisingly hasn’t popped up is Tekken 8.

Developed by Bandai Namco Studios and Arika, Tekken 8 was revealed some time ago and yet we still don’t have a release date for the title. The game is set to release on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S with many predicting a late 2023 or early 2024 release. We do know that the game is shaping up nicely though. Back in March, GAMINGbible’s James had the opportunity to go hands-on with the game, writing that he “had a blast” with it. He said, “From basic attacks to special moves, the combat is endlessly fun. There were plenty of moments where I held my breath while waiting to see if I’d triumphed over my opponent.” Did you know though that you too can get hands-on with Tekken 8 as soon as next month?

Take a look at Tekken 8 in action below.

Bandai Namco have revealed how you can get involved in the upcoming Tekken 8 early beta play tests - and it’s super easy. The closed network test is due to initially run from 21 July (10am CEST) to 24 July (9am CEST) on Playstation 5, although there will be a short maintenance period from 10pm on 21 July to 1am on 22 July. For Xbox and Steam users, the test runs from 28 July (10am CEST) to 31 July (9am CEST) - but this second session is, once again, open to PlayStation 5 users too. Maintenance will be held from 10am on 29 July to 1pm on 29 July.

To get involved, you can head over to the test’s designated sign-up page. There, you’ll just need to fill in a few details and Bandai Namco will get in touch if you’re selected to play. It’s decided on a first arrived, first served basis and registration is open now, so I wouldn’t hesitate if you’re hoping to get involved.

The play test will “evaluate the network's quality as well as offering a high end game experience with our new battle system and tactics; aerial combos; new gen graphics; and destructive and interactive stages to players.” It’s a great way to get an early glimpse at the game. Registration ends on 28 June. Good luck.
