Starfield dev responds to last-minute delay concerns

Starfield dev responds to last-minute delay concerns

Bethesda's head of publishing, Pete Hines, has assured fans that Starfield is in a good place ahead of its release.

The final countdown to Starfield is truly on. In fact, by my calculations, we’re officially only 23 days away from release. If you’re concerned that Starfield is going to be affected by any last minute delays though, worry not. Bethesda’s Pete Hines has confirmed that the game is in a good place, reassuring fans.

There’s so much to be excited about when it comes to Starfield. It’s been teased that there’ll be an ‘astonishing’ number of side quests, which makes sense when you remember that the game has over 1,000 planets. Around 10% of these are due to contain signs of life, while the others will stock valuable resources. Devs have been teasing the differing branching paths and factions the game will feature, plus fans are convinced that you’ll be able to play as a space samurai and decorate your own apartment. I certainly hope so. Seemingly though, you don’t need to worry about the game being marred by bugs or delayed.

Take a look at the latest trailer for Starfield below.

As far as we know, Starfield hasn’t publicly ‘gone gold’, despite the fact that it’s due to be released in just over three weeks. Bethesda did previously tease that the game has “the fewest bugs [we have] ever shipped with”. Now, as we enter the final countdown, Bethesda’s head of publishing Pete Hines has assured fans that despite the lack of a ‘gone gold’ announcement, Starfield won’t be delayed any further.

As reported by Prima Games, Hines replied to a tweet that read, “That’s cool but we want to know when the game is going gold and when is the pre-download. Cyberpunk did the same thing.” Hines' reply said, “Take a deep breath. I have an amazing team. We know what we’re doing.” A pretty confident response if you ask me.

By the sounds of it, Starfield is due to be released in a solid state - although we won’t know for sure until it’s in our hands. Assumedly, devs will be on hand to iron out any bugs or glitches that do make their way into the release build but alongside this, a talented group of modders are working on the Starfield Community Patch to further assist in boosting the general quality of the game. Game of the Year contender on our hands? It’s very likely.
