Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's enormous file size has to be seen to be believed

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's enormous file size has to be seen to be believed

We were not prepared

We all need to pray that our consoles can handle this game because, boy oh boy, it’s huge.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 isn’t the first game with a hefty file size, but few other titles have ever been quite this intimidating.

As shared on Twitter account @CODWarfareForum, the file size is reportedly a staggering 309.8 GB. Let that sink in for a moment.

Are we ready for this monster of a Call of Duty game? Black Ops 6 looks set to break our consoles.

This size has also been confirmed by Microsoft via the Black Ops 6 store page.

Although the Call of Duty fandom is used to installing large files to experience the intensity of the franchise, this new instalment is the biggest to date.

We know your eyes are likely still watering, but perhaps this file size isn’t just for Black Ops 6 alone, but, in fact, for all the games; as suggested by a Twitter user.

User @Sunset9998 said, “That should be with all games installed. (MWII, MWIII, BO6) Right?” To which the OP replied, “Sounds about right.”

If the file is indeed smaller without "campaign and zombies”, the Black Ops 6 experience should be significantly smaller.

Fans can but hope this is the case.

That said, after waiting so long for the OG zombies to return to the franchise, it would be a shame to forego them for the sake of space.

Those opting to play via Game Pass likely have a better chance of avoiding the dreaded 300 plus file, as they’ll be able to “play through the cloud”; though how seamless an experience that would be remains to be seen.

If, like us, your consoles are already struggling, the upcoming launch of the new CoD likely fills you with dread rather than excitement.

Let us join hands and manifest strong consoles come launch day.
