PlayStation Plus users are being treated to an extra little freebie today– but a lot of fans aren’t too happy with what’s on offer.

Personally, PlayStation Plus isn’t really worth it.

Look, if you’ve not played a bunch of the games on PlayStation Plus Extra or you’re lucky enough to get a game you’re actually excited to play every month on PlayStation Plus Essential, then I can see the price being justified.

But there’s absolutely no way anyone is ever going to convince me that PlayStation Plus Premium is worth it.

£2.50 extra a month, and all you get are some PS2 games and Game Trails? The PS2 games I can vibe with, but Game Trials are ridiculous and they should be free.

Well, if you are a PlayStation Plus Premium subscriber, then you’re in for an extra little treat (that should be free even if you’re not a PS Plus subscriber) this week: a Game Trial for Doom: The Dark Ages.

As explained by Push Square’s Sammy Barker, the 2025 shooter now has a one hour long trial… which has kind of annoyed a lot of folks over on the r/PS5 subreddit.

“I hate that demos/trials are locked behind PS Plus Premium”, commented user ClacksInTheSky.

“It's not a premium feature. It helps sell games. It should be available for everyone who has a Playstation account.”

“I remember walking into an electronics boutique and grabbing PS1 demo discs off the front counter for free. Good times”, replied user NoBullet.

Yeah, I’m with them on this one.

The fact that this is something that’s locked behind the premium tier of PlayStation Plus, and it’s only one hour long, just seems kind of insulting.

But hey, whatever. I’m not here to tell you how to spend your money. Enjoy your snippet of the new Doom game, folks.
