PlayStation Plus New Free Game Will Scratch Your Stardew Valley Itch

This cute 2023 farming sim is finally available on PlayStation Plus

This very positively reviewed 2023 farming sim is finally landing on PlayStation Plus, and fans of both Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley are definitely going to want to check this one out.

I’d be the first to admit that Stardew Valley has kind of ruined the farming sim genre for me.

It’s hard to get invested in a new take on the genre when I could just start another playthrough of the best game ever made instead, but that might finally be set to change following the latest addition to PlayStation Plus this month.

In case you missed it, earlier this week, Sony announced the PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium additions for August, and there’s a few bangers in there.

First up, you got Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered (which I am surprised wasn't already on there). Then you've got Unicorn Overlord, a cute little 2024 tactical RPG (which I highly recommend). Also, Mortal Kombat 1… and that’s the end of that sentence.

However, one addition to the line up may have passed a lot of folks by (including myself).

I’m referring to Coral Island, the 2023 farming and life sim game developed by Stairway Games and Humble Games. By all accounts, this is one of the best farming sim games to drop in the last decade– but there may be a good reason as to why it’s not taken off on PlayStation in the same way it did on Steam.

That’s because, according to the early critical reviews, the launch version of Coral Island on PlayStation 5 was extremely buggy, especially when compared to the PC release of the game.

However, I did a little digging and apparently the large majority of the issues have since been patched (although its rough launch may explain why PS5 users have avoided it since).

Honestly, I’m convinced. I’ll give this one a go when it drops on August 19. But I guess in the meantime, I could always start another Stardew Valley playthrough…
