Andrzej Sapkowski, author of The Witcher has confirmed he’s writing a new book, but it won’t have anything to do with Geralt and Ciri.

The Witcher series has been grown increasingly popular over the last few years, no doubt thanks to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which is still considered one of the greatest video games of all time, and the Netflix TV show adaptation, which is currently in its third season.

While the TV show has seen less than favoruable reviews from fans and critics, especially with the heartbreaking exit of Henry Cavill, who won’t be playing Geralt in season four, it did get people interested in the story and books.

However, it’s been 10 years since the release of the most recent Witcher book, Season of Storms, which is something the author, Andrzej Sapkowski, is about to change.

Fans hoping for a continuation of the series will be thrilled to hear Sapkowski confirm another book is currently being written, breaking the news on the Ukrainian podcast Fantastic Talk(s).

When asked if he was working on any projects at the moment, the author said: “a new book about witcher.”

He then elaborated, saying: “I never say these things with me because you never know … Maybe I’ll do something, maybe I won’t. And so far, when I said that I would write something, and then I didn’t write it, people complained as if I had deceived them and as if I had lied

“That’s why I don’t like to talk about what I’m doing until I finish doing it. Because until I finish it, I don’t think it exists. But since I always make exceptions for Ukrainians, I will do it this time too,”

No details were shared on what the new story will be about, but Sapkowski made it clear that it won’t feature Geralt or Ciri, as he believes their stories are finished.

The author rounded off the announcement by saying it should “take a year, but no longer” to finish, meaning we’ll likely learn more sometime in 2024.
