Three free games can now be yours to try on Xbox platforms for a very limited time, and for some reason every title in the line up features a specific, well-known video game mascot.
It is, once again, time for the Xbox Free Play Days of play event– but there’s a bit of a twist to the giveaway this weekend.
I make fun of the Xbox Free Play Days event basically every week, because as cool as it is that Microsoft offers folks free trials for games every single weekend… they are rarely games that anyone actually gives a hoot about.
Gotta admit though, the three games available this time have surprised me, because I couldn’t figure out what the thematic reason was for making every game on the list a Pac-Man title.

As revealed in an article by Pure Xbox’s Ben Kerry, this week Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X owners can sink their teeth into free trials for Pac-Man Museum+, Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs, and Pac-Man World Re-Pac.
So, what’s the reasoning behind the Pac-Man exclusive line up? Is it because Pac-Man is going to feature as a racer in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds? Or does someone at Microsoft just really, really love the little yellow dot muncher?
Neither, apparently, because it would seem that the reason all three of these games are featured this weekend is due to the fact that it’s Pac-Man’s 45th birthday soon.
Bit of an oddly specific milestone, but sure. Personally I won’t be advertising when I turn 45, but you do you, bro.

If you’re keen to celebrate his big birthday with Pac-Man, just make sure you try out the games you’re interested in before August 24. However, there are heavy Pac-Man discounts across the board on most storefront at the moment, including Xbox, so at least you’ll be able to pick up whatever game interests you on the cheap afterwards.
